Our little yellow taxi at Jackie B. Goode's Uptown Cafe and Dinner Theater is a 1953 Henry J. Kaiser. It was manufactured from 1951 to 1954. It was also sold as an “Allstate” through the Sears and Roebuck catalog.
Take a ride down the memory lane with our retro-themed taxi cab. Get in touch with us to learn more about our little yellow taxi!
Our retro taxi cab has a box section frame with a coil-spring independent front suspension and a live rear axle. It is powered with a four-cylinder L-head Willie’s Jeepster engine. One of its USPs was its unique heart-shaped rear window that would pop out if the car impacted something with more than 35 lb force.
The Kaiser-Frazer Company borrowed $44 million from the US Government to begin its first mass-assembly automobile factory. They made a deal to adapt factories from government buildings that were used in WW II. However, there were only 120,000 Henry J’s produced!
